As Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to impact the global community, we want to assure you that the health, safety and wellbeing of our students living in our communities continues to be our top priority.
As the Property Manager, we (Nido Student) have made some adjustments to our standard policies to ensure we make this worrying and unsettling time as easy as possible for our Nido residents. If you have already moved out or plan to move out in the coming weeks due to COVID-19, this page will help to answer some of the questions you may have on how to waive the licence fee for the final term of your licence agreement. Please note that the below FAQs relate to Nido Boyce House only.

We understand these are incredibly difficult and worrying times and therefore some students will choose to move out early, we want to support our residents as much as possible during this time and have therefore made the decision to waive the licence fee for the final term of your licence agreement from Saturday 11th April 2020, should you wish to move out early, or if you have already done so due to COVID-19.
If you are currently still occupying your room, under government advice you must remain in the residence. Travel from a halls of residence to your permanent home is now classed as non-essential.
A waiver cannot be requested while you are still in occupation. If you do still want to leave following the lockdown, please complete the waiver form in your Nido Portal by midnight on Tuesday 14th April 2020 and a refund will be considered from the date you leave the residence if this date is after 10th April 2020.
If you wish to take advantage of this waiver procedure, please ensure you have completed the waiver form in your Nido Portal by midnight on Tuesday 14th April 2020.
Under government advice travel from a halls of residence to your permanent home is now classed as non-essential and therefore everyone is asked to stay in their current residence. The waiver cannot be requested while you are still in occupation, however if you do still want to leave following the lockdown, please complete this form prior to midnight on the 14th April and make sure to inform the Nido Team that you are still staying with us.
Once you’ve completed the waiver form on the Nido Student Portal, your room will be checked by the Residence Team from 9am on the following working day (provided you left at least 72 hours ago for Health and Safety reasons). If the information that you have provided has been verified, your account will be credited with a refund from the 11th April 2020 to the end of the licence period. If there is a balance left to pay, we will request that you do so through the Nido Student portal within 7 working days. Any arrears up to and including 10th April 2020 must be paid by 30th April 2020 for you to qualify for the waiver.
Once you’ve completed the waiver form on the Nido Student Portal, your room will be checked by the Residence Team from 9am on the following working day. If the information that you have supplied has been verified, we will ask you to return your keys by recorded delivery. Once these have been received, the process will continue as above.
Please complete the waiver form and return your keys by recorded delivery. We will arrange for your belongings to be packed and stored securely until the restrictions on movement have been lifted. Or if requested by you, we will arrange for your belongings to be couriered to you. Once this has been completed, the process will continue as above.
If you haven’t yet left and are planning to leave after the lock down, please return all fobs, key cards & post box keys to your residence team when you check out. If you have left and taken your keys, please post back any keys by recorded delivery when it is safe to do so. We will be cancelling fobs as we’ll need them for next year’s residents. If you have lost your keys or cannot return them for any reason, please contact the Nido Team.
If you have paid in full for the year, and have rebooked for next year, we will apply the refund as credit to your account for 20/21. We will also offer you 2 weeks free accommodation for 2020/21. If you do not want to partake in this offer, please let us know.
If you have paid in full for the year, we will refund you from the 11th April 2020 to the end of your licence period.
We will endeavour to process all refunds as soon as possible upon verification of your completed waiver form, however as you can understand due to the high influx of requests this may take a while.
All verified refunds will be paid into the account that we have registered for you on our system. We will not make payments to any alternative accounts.
No, we will adjust your StarRez portal account to reflect any changes and update the amount due. You do not need to cancel your direct debit if you have confirmed your cancellation/ early move out with us.
Your deposit will be processed as per the terms of your licence, at the end of your licence agreement. All deposits will be processed by TDS /SDS within 28 days of the end of your licence agreement in the usual manner. You will be notified of any deductions to your deposit for any damage to your room, this will be dealt with via the TDS/SDS scheme.
In order to qualify for the waiver of the licence fee, you must have paid your account up to and including 10th April 2020 and you must have submitted your waiver form by midnight on Tuesday 14th April 2020 via the student portal. All payments must be up to date by 30th April 2020.
Once you have completed the waiver form, we will make the adjustments to your account. You can pay the outstanding balance via your account here on the student portal. If payment has not been received by 30th April 2020 – you will become liable for the full payment of the licence fee until the end of your licence agreement.
If you grant Nido the permission to pack your belongings in both your room/studio and the kitchen, we will provide you with boxes/wrapping, and we will prepare an inventory which will be left with your belongings and we will retain a copy. We will also take photographs of the room and contents as evidence of their condition.
We will store your belongings until 31st August 2020.
All perishable foods will be disposed of and non-perishable food items will be donated to a local food bank where possible.
Please include details on the waiver form of any valuable items such as any electricals, jewellery and items of special significance to you.
There will be a nominal charge for storage boxes and packing of £41.67 plus VAT which we will add to your account.
Please notify us in the waiver form if you wish to make arrangements for your belongings to be packed and couriered to your present address, once you have made the arrangements please inform the Residence team of the details and we will arrange access to your room.
Nido is happy to make the arrangements on your behalf and will then simply pass on the charges from the courier services to you. If it is agreed that Nido packs your belongings, then as above there will be a nominal charge for the storage boxes and packing of £41.67 plus VAT which we will add to your account
If there is nothing you want from your room, please notify us in the waiver form and provide us with your consent so that we can arrange for the room to be cleared and anything left in the rooms to be disposed of, either to a recycling point or a local charity.
Once you have completed the waiver form and we have verified the details and subject to agreeing with you what will happen to any belongings, we will complete an inspection of your room and carry out a deep clean of the room/ studio and kitchen
If you wish to return to the residence once the restrictions have been lifted and have received a licence fee waiver, you may return at any point up to the end of the licence period. Please email the residence email address and allow five working days prior to your return date.
You will then be charged the licence Fee on a pro rata basis from the date you return until the end of your licence period.
Please note we will be unable to guarantee that you will be able to move back into your original room.
During the current lockdown and if you are no longer in residence, you should arrange for your post to be re-directed to your current address, this can be done online from the Post Office website.

Yes, however we appreciate the impact the situation has had on your experience with us, and as such, we are providing all our residents who continue to stay with us in Boyce House, 1/3 discount on the licence fee from the 11th April until the end of the licence period.
Once you’ve let us know that you would like to stay, we will make the adjustment in your account in the student portal. Please check your portal after the 30th April and please arrange for any outstanding licence fees to be paid.
If you currently live in a shared flat and some or all of your flatmates have moved out, new students could move into the vacant rooms before the end of your licence period.
If you’re planning on staying at Nido for the third term, you are still required to pay your licence fee as normal.
If you’re planning on staying at Nido after the end of your licence period for the summer period up until 31 August 2020, you will not be charged for the summer period.
