On 13 April, we well and truly threw it back to the 90s.
Nido – West Hampstead was transformed into glitz, glam, a bit of grunge and a lot of colour, as one of our residents, Kyarah Boon, and her classmates ran their very own 90s event in our common room as part of their end of year module in Events Management at The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance.
The team were tasked with curating, managing and reporting on their own event. We were happy to lend our event space to Kyarah so she could throw a great party of Nido residents and friends.
Kyarah said, “Nido Student were great from start to finish in helping us with this event. Connor was always on-hand throughout with some great tips and useful advice that we used not just for the event, but for any events we run going forward. It was an awesome experience”
The event opened its doors to a number of ICMP as well as neighbouring university students and friends, capturing a great sense of community within our common room.
The evening consisted of a number of RnB performers taking to the stage to perform their self-made tracks before the main event of a DJ, drinks and plenty of dance moves took place. We welcomed back our resident DJ, Harry Land, to spin some tracks transforming us back two decades as the students partied under our new smart lighting, helping to capture that colourful 90’s party vibe.
It’s safe to say going retro was a great decision as the dancefloor was filled with students loving the playlist, decorations and taking that well-needed break from any coursework exam revision during their Easter breaks.
Nido is a community and every voice in that community is heard, so if you want to run your own event, then get in touch with us, we can’t wait to hear your ideas.
